Jeju Island, or Jeju-do, located just below the Korean Peninsula, is a popular place to tour when in South Korea. From climbing up a shield volcano named Hallasan to exploring the numerous kinds of delicious seafood, Jeju-do has much to offer, including the best places to watch the sunset.

Places like Iho Tewoo Beach or the Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road are famous for their sunsets. Some might say they’re a bit too famous. You’ll be able to see a beautiful sunset, but with a swarm of people. So, if you want to watch the sun go down in a less crowded place, think about driving a bit further down to Hamo Beach.

Hamo Beach is located along Jeju-do’s Olle Trail Course #1 and has another road along the side of the beach for cars to drive by. A small post stand marks the starting point of Hamo Beach with a photo spot that frames the perfect sunset. For safety reasons, Hamo Beach is not open for people to swim, which makes it less popular than other beaches. However, it has unique traits allow it to be a pleasant and special trip. For example, there is a beautiful trail that walks you through the woods and out to the sandy beachside and a road that has lights embedded on the ground so that you can easily see the endless horizon. So, next time you visit Jeju Island, make sure to stop by at Hamo Beach to enjoy a unique and memorable experience.
